Introduction

Marangrang Power Solutions (PTY) Ltd (MPS), established in 2014, is an energy company created to bring a positive solution to South Africa and the Continents’ energy challenges.  The global nature of energy challenges requires that local renewable energy resources be appropriately managed and used, and MPS has positioned itself to serve as a partner, service provider and solution to the energy challenges faced by many African nations. MPS aims to work, hand in hand with public and private entities alike to develop and provide

alternative energy resources in order to meet the growing demand. South Africa is faced with an energy shortage due to ageing power stations and as a result, demand far outweighs supply which presents MPS with an opportunity to be a part of the solution. South Africa’s on-going power outages are having a negative impact on GDP, investment, growth and the development of the people, so MPS is committed to work to turning the situation around – one project at a time; Initially in South Africa, and then across the continent.

North West Strategic Solar PV Plant Project

Marangrang Power Solutions will be embarking on a ground breaking renewable energy project in the North West province. The mandate of the project will be to develop a Solar Power Plant which will generate 800 MW of photovoltaic solar power. The PV modules and electrical equipment will adopt IEC standards; civil work will comply with South African standards or other equivalent international standards. The local mandatory codes and standards will also be followed in this project. The facility is proposed to be located in a town of Mogwase and Moruleng, North West Province, South Africa. The envisaged land area will be approximately 2000 ha.

The proposed project will be split into 4 development phases of 200 MW each. There will be 32 PV arrays in each phase, and the capacity of each PV array will be 6867kWp. Each one PV array will contain one 0.8/33kV MV box step-up station. There will be one 132/33kV Step-up Substation in each phase, which contains monitoring & control container, 33kV MV switchgear container, 132/33kV HV step-up transformer and 132kV HV GIS container. In addition, Phase 1 132/33kV Step-up Substation also includes complex water pump house, complex building, warehouse, education/training centre.

New roads will be built on the site in order to meet the transport, maintenance and fire-fighting requirements. The site will be enclosed by 2.0m steel fence and the area within the boundary fence is approximately 740 ha. The design of the process, equipment, material selection, layout and fire passage will be carried out in accordance with NFPA and local regulations.

Photovoltaics Installations (PV)

Ten years ago South African’s enjoyed the fact of being one of the lowest payers of electricity world wide. Since then we are moving at a rapid pace to become one of the highest payers. With the current trend of electricity price hikes companies and households have to make an informed choice to save energy by chosing to invest in one or more of the many energy savings products available in our market today.

With years of experience in solar energy technology Marangrang Power Solutions has narrowed into providing the Photovoltaic (PV) solution. PV systems utilise the suns energy to generate solar power (electricity) and because solar is a technology and not a fuel, there are zero ongoing costs after installation. Investing in solar offers a 18-25% return on investment annually based on your electricity savings and thus it has proven to be the best investment model for companies and households.

Solar PV has many benefits. The grid tied systems which primarily focus on savings, will see an immediate reduction in your energy bill. Back-up systems will provide clean, quiet, instant and environmentally friendly electricity during power outages. PV systems are scalable and can be improved as per your requirement and demand.

Start investing in your future today and enjoy the benefits of saving thousands of Rands each year. For more information on our PV solution or installation contact us today.
